Directory of Open Access Journals(DOAJ)


 

The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) is website maintained by Lund University which lists open access journals.

They defines open access journals as scientific and scholarly journals that meet high quality standards by exercising peer review or editorial quality control and does not charge readers or their institutions for access DOAJ, as the rights to "read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles"


As of October 2011, the database contained 7116 journals, with an average of four journals being added each day for the month of September.The aim of DOAJ is to increase the visibility and ease of use of open access scientific and scholarly journals thereby promoting their increased usage and impact.

TECHNICAL PROCESSING WORK (ASB LIBRARY)




  1. Classification of books following DDC latest edition (presently 23rd ed.).Before consult DDC, we check our database and provide the earlier class number in case of same title if found.
  2. Cataloguing of books following AACR-II.
  3. Prepare Subject Heading following Library of Congress Subject Heading.
  4. Preparing / Update Database using Koha software.
  5. Generating Bar-Code using Koha software.
  6. Classify books as Reference ,Rare,General etc.
  7. Update database for the classified books also for Binding, Lost Books etc.
  8. Stamping ,labeling ASB seal and spine-label.
  9. Generate list of new arrival of books which includes bibliographic details including Abstract.
  10. Put hard-copy of new arrivals into display board (weekly).Simultaneously those books are kept for 'New Arrival' Display.
  11. New arrivals list with bibliographic details are updated on ASB Library blog(http://asblibrarytvm.blogspot.com/)
  12. Send this list to the ASB academic community through g-mail (weekly).
